Rice and beans???

Postby Guest » 15 Jul 2007, 13:27

Hello,
I made for dinner tonight a rice and bean dish. Has anyone had a problem with brown rice. I was just wondering if its ok to eat? I was looking at the little rices pieces going hmmmm will these cause me a problem. Probably a stupid question but I thought I would ask??
Thanks Patty

I can't imagine how soft, cooked rice would be a problem. I ate rice, regular, brown, wild...all kinds, throughout the time I had my fissure. I had never heard or read that it was a non-fissure food.
Anything soft going in will usually not be a problem.

I eat brown rice almost every day. I don't think I've had any retears due to it. I think it's very healthy to eat since your diet should include a lot of whole grains. Eating them helps you stay regular...although if you don't eat a lot of whole grains, your body might need a few days to adjust.
Remember to chew them a lot...not only does this release more flavor, it also helps you digest them better.

yes key is to chew them completely.
they make a wonderful breakfast if you cook them in soy milk or EdenBlend and add cinnamon and raisins.
brown rice better than white rice.
but all rice is better than no rice.
another key here is to avoid putting butter or any other oils on it. have it as it is plain.

i think jasmine and basmati rice don't count as white rices!!!!
however, your instant white rices at the store are not full of nutrients.
brown rice is high in nutrients and good insoluable fiber that will help move things along.
so if you are looking to add more nutrients naturally to your meal, go for the brown!

I love brown rice!! I really don't understand why folks like the white grocery store variety when the brown tastes so good...
