Fissure with Advanced Flap and almost 1.5 years experience

... now go in about once a month for silver nitrate treatments to get the last little bit healed. So I have leakage of some kind that is possibly the "keyhole" of unhealed tissues leaking or discharge. Just had another SN treatment and I rear of sore. The leaking has been an issue, but more or less ...

Re: Leakage 8 months post-op?

... -- yikes -- perhaps smelling as though I need a diaper change!). What I fear is that my surgeon did a posterior cut, and that I have the dreaded keyhole sphincter now! The one that leaks the most easily, whereby one almost never feels fully voided or clean. That is the only place that I still ...

Re: Irritation on the outside

... irritation after BMs. I use Balneol to make sure the area is very clean after BMs. It sucks. I read on the internet that the surgery can make a keyhole deformity in some people and it is just a side effect of the surgery. Mine never stopped unfortunately, but I know some other people have had ...

Re: Newly Diagnosed and New To Forum

Hi Ink, and welcome. I bought a cushion that was soft but with like a keyhole shape cut out, which didn't put pressure on the fissure. Donut shapes are very likely to aggravate it - like sitting on a toilet seat for too long. I know surgery isn't pleasant but ...

Re: Keyhole Deformity

When I was researching LIS procedures prior to my own operation I came across articles in medical journals describing the surgery. Very often the authors' names and hospital affiliations are provided before the abstract of the article, or you can google the names of the authors. I almost contacted a...

Re: Keyhole Deformity

ps..I experienced leakage after LIS, but it's like you didn't wipe good after a bm leakage. There's a thread "8 months post up with leakage" (or close to that title) where you can see what many of us have experienced. I never had anything green or yellow with my leakage. I know some of the fissurect...

Re: Keyhole Deformity

Hey longordeal, I read every thread on here prior to my LIS 9 months ago and I don't recall anyone posting about a keyhole deformity. There may be something I missed though. There's one person who stands out in my mind who had a LIS incision where I believe would be at 6'oclock. ...

Re: Keyhole Deformity

Hello hopetoheal, Thanks for your reply. I have read the same thing about the posterior superficial midline sphincterotomy - that it is not recommended exactly because of this. Ironically, however, the CRS that I saw after my surgery (I moved) said that the first surgeon who performed the surgery (w...

Re: Keyhole Deformity

Hi Longordeal - I haven't read any accounts of a keyhole deformity on this forum. I will keep my eyes open and let you know if I see anything. Every post I've seen that talks about fissure surgery discusses LISs. My understanding is that sphincterotomies ...
