Re: Keyhole Deformity

Hi Dawn,
Thanks. I really don't know why either and was under the impression that I was having an LIS. I have a new doctor, now, however, and he says that I did not have an LIS but instead a posterior midline superficial sphincterotomy. He says this isn't necessarily bad, but that is what I had.

Re: Keyhole Deformity

Hi. I'm going to give your thread a bump. Hopefully someone can help as I have only read about this. I'm trying to understand why your LIS incision was at 6'oclock position. I thought that fissure are commonly located at 6 or 12 o'clock and the LIS incision was made on the left or right side? Hopefu...

Keyhole Deformity

... Unfortunately, not only has the fissure not healed, but the fissurectomy wound did not heal properly, leaving me with a deformity known as a "keyhole deformity." (Think of what an old skeleton key hole looks like). For the last 2 months, I strongly suspect that I am leaking mucus through this ...

Re: Yellow/green leakage

... It is most definitely not an infection. I just worry that it may be something that is coming from inside the colon and leaking out through the keyhole deformity rather than something coming from the wound itself. Does anybody have an experience with mucus incontinence and what this is like??? ...

Yellow/green leakage

... I had an LIS with fissurectomy about 4 months ago. Unfortunately, it did not get rid of the fissure, and in addition to this led to a slight "keyhole deformity" (my doctor does not want to officially call it that yet, but that is essentially what it is) because the fissurectomy hole never ...

Re: Rectal deformity

... little something to look forward to, I guess. Quite frankly I don't care if it winds up growing out of the side of my head if I feel better. Keyhole deformity to my understanding happened more often in the old days of LIS, when they didn't know better and made the incision at 6:00 or 12:00--cutting ...

Re: Rectal deformity

OMG, you guys at least have a sense of humour about this! :) As for the keyhole deformity... I think that is referring to leakage. When your anus no longer closes to keep gas/stool in. At least that was my understanding from the CRS when I was contemplating ...

Re: Rectal deformity

... seemed a bit worried that the skin might grow over the entrance because of adhesions, but that does not seem to have happened. Not sure what a keyhole deformity is, but shall do a search. One thing that I have is the sensation that I have no muscles left in my butt cheeks, which makes my coccyx ...

Re: Rectal deformity

This isn't uncommon, infact after anal surgery we could expect to get what is known as a "Keyhole deformity"

BTW, I checked my arse out and it definitely is off centre, I also have a certain thickness of skin on the left side!

Re: Please, help

... need to shave your butt or remove hair. Perhaps your surgeon is out of date? As they used to do LIS's ten years ago that had a different cut (keyhole) formation that rendered more people incontinent. This cut was made at 6 or 12 o'clock instead of at 3 or 9 o'clock (hence lateral cut). Alpine, ...
