silicon strips......

Postby happyass » 17 Dec 2008, 14:01

just saw some fissure peeps bring up a discussion on silicon strips.
never heard of them for fissures so it would be great to have some discussion on them here....
ie, what is it?
how does it work? did it work?
would you recommend them?

I never used them on my tootie bootie but I did use them on some surgical scars and it did help reduce the appearance of them. There are also some scar creams like Mederma or Scarzone that do the same though silicone strips are used clinically for burns and wounds.
I dont know how it works-it must soften the scar or do something with the collagen to keep it from raising up. I have had 2 surgeries on my neck and you can't even tell now.
Okay, who wants to test this out down yonder???

Hey I tested them on a surgical scar on tummy... not sure if they really helped me or not. I used them for months and months and as soon as I quit the scar came back with a vengenance! Eventually more surgery and steroids! Maybe it helped temporarily, the pressure helps but if you forget it comes back, for me anyway...mine was a keloid.
No volunteer here!
Let me know and I'll send you some!
(Just need to find them  )
Unfortunately I don't think you would ever get them to stick down younder!!?

Maybe you can stick a small portion inside? I don't know. Isn't silicone supposed to bad for your body? Might get too absorbed in the mucosal area.
