Spasms for hours

Postby rlb273 » 14 Jan 2019, 18:56

Hey all,

I've been treating my fissure for about 4 months now and it has gotten a lot better.

Some days I don't have any pain after a Bm, but some days I have spasms that last for HOURS. Like today for example, I had a BM at 11 am, and it's now almost 7pm and the spasms have just stopped. They're not super painful, just present and annoying -- kind of like that feeling you can never get fully comfortable when sitting.

Has anyone else experienced this? How long do your spasms last? And looking back on your healing journey, did this happen to you?

Thanks

I had a lot of the spasms when I first got a fissure, but now they mostly present as a dull soreness if things get bad enough. As you heal those sensations will drop off. My suggestion is to try some kind of intervention to interrupt the spasm. You could try warm sitz baths, hot water bottle, manual internal massage or perhaps contract and relax the muscles while breathing deeply. The longer the area is allowed to be in a dysfunctional pattern, the more the anal tone increases.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

Any secret remedies?

When it gets bad I take ibuprofen to interrupt the pain. I also use Neosporin to keep it clean and I thin it has a pain reliever in it. If it feels super tight after a BM, I use these things immediately to reduce the pain. Also sitting on the heating pad helps too. Unfortunately I don't have a bath tub in my small city apartment.

It just makes me worried as a person who does not like to take medication. I don't want to be reliant on ibuprofen or Neosporin to function normally.

Rlb273 the do make little butt baths that just sit on your toilette. Not as nice as a tub but might be worth it since you don't have a tub. I tried it because taking a full blown bath so frequently is kinda annoying. The downsides were that A) it means 15 minutes of sitting on the toilet when your not even trying to poop, and B) a smaller amount of water like that cools down faster and you want it to be hot.

Sounds like a fissure to me but I'm not really an expert. Some people don't have blood or very little. Sometimes the BM itself doesn't really hurt much. didn't until mine got worse. My spasms usually kick in about 2-3 hours after the BM. I'd recommend if your worried check with a CRS doctor/proctologist instead of a homeopath.

Mona, dont rely on us telling you what it is or what to do. We can help but only if you have a clear diagnostic, by a good CRS. Otherwise we just shoot in the dark and you may suffer for longer.
Please go see a good specialist.
