Hi
I have looked at other posts on this forum to make stool soft..but they are not helping ..one month before I stupidly went for schlerotherapy for chronic anal fissure.. but the treatment backfired and because my situation became worse I went for surgery fissurectomy and lateral anal sphincterotomy 2 weeks back. Now my wound is healing but during BM the pain is intolerable mainly because the stool size is too large .i.e. bristol 3 types and even after laxatives and eating fibre and drinking of a lot of water ..but still my stools are pretty large . This has happened after surgery maybe because of medication I am not sure..What should I do now...please help me

Try Lactitol Monohydrate 15mls twice a day and see if this will be of help to you. Cheers

Do you know how many grams of fiber you are getting? I was getting 40+ grams of fiber daily and had the same issue. Once I reduced the amount to 25 grams daily (the recommended daily amount for females under age 50), I started having more normal sized BM's. Still taking stool softener and being careful with my diet.

Forgot to mention, I track my diet on fitday.com, which counts up the total fiber from my foods.

Hi. Happy and painless new year.
I tryed a few things to make it soft. The most effective were 3 dryed prunes in a hot glass of water so long as they become soft. Then eat them and drink the water that has already got the colour of the fruits.
The second thing that my surgeon gave to me was "dufalac". Its a krystalic sugar liquid that goes down without been digested an so it brings water in the stool. I had to expiriment the dosage but 5 mg 3 times/day did the work
Hope it helps
Chris
