New here- Help on making a BM Schedule

Postby BadBumDad » 02 Aug 2022, 09:56

Hey Everyone- 38M- I’m new here but have been reading for a month- I’m pretty sure I have an AF but maybe (hopefully?) don’t. Whatever it is is internal and super painful during BM and for several hours afterwards

I got bad food poisoning maybe six weeks ago and for the last month have had increasingly painful BM with pain afterwards that basically requires I lay down for 6-8 hours which is a real pain with two young kids.

My general care doctor couldn’t see anything but also couldn’t do a full exam because it hurt too much. Meeting with a proctologist on Friday.

My main question- has anyone had success using miralax and Metamucil to schedule your BM for nighttime? I’m about to go on vacation and would love to avoid being stuck in bed during the day which is what would happen if I had a morning BM. But if I can schedule at night I’m usually ok by the morning

And then lastly- has anyone ever had a thrombosed internal hemorrhoid? Do they present the same as a fissure?

Hi there, I'm not sure your would change your body's schedule like that. The only thing I've found that does that is traveling halfway around the world caused by jet lag. Metamucil may make BMs too bulky hence causing more pain, but you could find a dosage that works for you.

I think the specialist will be able to figure out whether you have a hemorrhoid or a fissure. They shouldn't have to do a full exam, external evaluation is usually enough.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Life comes at you fast- managed to get an early appointment today with my CRS and he immediately identified my fissure which I guess was external the whole time and scheduled me for LIS for Friday. Kindof a whirlwind of an afternoon!
