Going to see Doc Monday, what should I request

Postby Fissure boy24 » 07 Apr 2018, 21:23

Finally going to see a doctor after getting healthcare, just curious if there is any special creams or something I should ask for to help alleviate the discomfort of my anal fissure?

Are you seeing a general physician or a colorectal specialist? Either way, ask about getting prescribed nifedipine, nitroglycerin or diltiazem. The correct concentration for each one is different. Also ask about muscle relaxant suppositories if appropriate for your case. Definitely don't take any steroid creams because those thin the tissues and make healing harder. If you would like to be referred to a surgeon for possible surgery then ask about that too. Good luck and take care!
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

I'll see which cream I can get.

The side effects are bad for any of them?I heard you can get bad headaches is that true?

Ok so no steroid creams, I'll try to get a referral to a CRS because I know mine is chronic.

The only ointment that causes headaches is nitroglycerin. Personally I found nifedipine to work better than nitro. It didn't cause burning or headaches.
