Tabby - colonoscopy can cause many things in hands of an inexperienced doctor - as can anything else Image . I swore that I will never ever have it - no matter what and would wait for "virtual colonoscopy" technology to be widely available (now it is available only in some big medical centers), but than decided to have it after I met this last CRS. He was so calm, gentle and caring during regular exams that I felt confident enough to proceed with the colonoscopy too. Since it CAN cause a fissure I thought - better to have it done while I already have one and not after I heal and than fear of a new fissure.
The prep was no fun Image - but I think it was that way since I am "fast" anyway and I had more than usual number of BMs after drinking that icky stuff :(

I have never b/4 heard of colonscopy causing a fissure. Do you think it could possibly due to the prep and not the actual procedure itself?

If you read the discloser - you will see it. It is due to pushing a tube up ones butt LOL !!!
Maybe only in California they disclose all those things Image I noticed that no other Botox patient on our board got the paper that I got here which scared the hell out off me Image !? LOL

I had a colonoscopy too when I was in college. It was definitely no fun. Maybe that is where I got my fissure! I really had no idea where it could have come from. I got the colonoscopy to rule out possible ulcers. Apparently, it turns out I have acid reflux disease.
Oh well! :p

Kate - I see that your "mood" says "sick" :( . Are you OK ??? What is going on Image ? I hope just a cold or something !!!
If those idiots gave you a fissure doing colonoscopy - that would be just horrible Image !!! Can you go back in your mind to that event and recall if your rectal pain started after procedure ??? Image Image
Hope you will get well, whatever is bothering you !!! Image

I will never forget the prep from colonoscopy either and that was going back years …No fun whatsoever!
No disclosure for my colonoscopy then and no disclosure for the botox !
The joys of the NHS is that no one tells you anything !! Image
I think California has the right idea , patients should be made aware then they can make their own choice !

Get well soon Small Flower Image

Thanks for the advice and sharing your experiences everyone. O.K. a fissure probably should not be caused by a procedure or colonoscopy but you run the risk anytime you have one. I go back in 6 weeks for another check-up with the crs. Even though he said my fissure is mild it seems to not be healing or will heal and re-open so I'm not sure what will happen. Cherylk and Fiss, hey, what's with the California jokes? Have you ever been here? Image

I've been to California (bay area) and also LA. Love the bay area, but I think both coasts are ahead of the Midwest, so that is probably why many things are different.
