strengthen the skin down there

Postby kmax1940 » 14 Dec 2010, 16:28

i am now at my 4th dr. for fissures... and have already had LIS.
still have a cut there that keeps opening up....
i just wondered why none of the dr's have mentioned any type of cream to make the skin around that area better...
like lotion you use on your hands to make the skin healthy.... :)
anyone use any type of "lotion" to help strengthen the skin down there???

Out of curiosity, is it the fissure that has reopened or the surgical cut from LIS? What is the fissure pain/symptoms like compared to pre-LIS?

well the dr said that the fissure he saw before is gone... now there is a new cut on the edge... the symptoms are the same... not much pain but blood when stool is big etc.
i was thinking the skin needs to be strengthened down there or something..

Well that's good news that at least there isn't much pain. Did you have a lot of pain pre-LIS?
I think the only thing that strengthens skin is time.

Ok this is probably going to sound weird, but supposedly testosterone (either topical or systemic) is supposed to toughen skin. I have no knowledge of whether people ever use it in the anal area, or if it's even safe to do so, but I know some people use it on the "male reproductive organ". I guess it's something to look into if you're really desperate, but just bear in mind that using testosterone in the anal area has no medical support to my knowledge and probably shouldn't be done without discussing it with your doctor...

I use Kamillosan chamomile ointment both inside and around the anus, not sure whether it strengthens the skin or not (personally I think this will only happen with time), anyway, chamomile is renowned for it's skin healing properties which is why I use it every day..

I agree with time (the body) being the only real strengthener of the skin (other than meditating or visualizing it getting stronger).
