Hi.
I don't post here very often because LIS was the be all and end all for me (great success -- 7 months post LIS).
I would definitely get the prescription for the Vicodin and see if you could get one for Valium (that was my lifesaver).
I didn't have any urinary retention, and after the first day, no real pain either (after the day of surgery the pain was always less than the pain of the fissure).
I'm to the point where I don't even concern myself over what I'm eating or taking extra fiber.
I know not everybody had as good of an experience as I have, but having LIS truly was the best medical decision I've ever made. It was absolutely life-changing.
