Day 1 Advancement Flap

Postby Lsfb1989 » 12 Sep 2020, 03:21

I had the flap yesterday, after many years of pain and bleeding, and two rounds of Botox. My CRS wasnt too confident it would work, but being young (30), female and no children, he is totally against LIS. I have been very vocal on the fact I dont want children, but I do appreciate his opinion.

I woke up in a bit of pain, so I was immediately given Fentanyl. This made my nose so itchy, and I kept knocking off the oxygen mask, so they swapped me to nasal prongs so I could get oxygen and scratch away!

I was discharged after 3 hours with painkillers, laxatives and antibiotics to take for a week.

The local anasthetic given to numb the area is still going strong, the area is covers is slowly receding.

I will keep this thread updated as I found others experiences so helpful.

Thank you for starting this post and well done to you for going ahead with this surgery. I’m going to be following along. I’m interested to see how you go in your recovery. I’m going to be having my 4th Botox soon (I’m not a good candidate for LIS). Eventually I may need a flap. Do you know if you have high resting pressure?
I hope you recover quickly!

Hey, I had the manometry tests back in December, I actually have a normal resting pressure. The tests were so embarassing but had to be done!

I am day 2 now, the local anaesthetic has worn off so in a bit of pain, sitting on a hot water bottle really helps. I havent been able to use the toilet yet, getting worked up about how much the first time will hurt. Ive been taking Lactulose 2* a day since Friday, and eating normally so I am sure it will be soon...

Im sure this is a vital update - took a laxido sachet and did a lot of stomach massage, first Poop done. Fair amount if blood but the pain isnt nearly what I expected - feels more like a pre-op poop. I did take dihydrocodeine this morning so tis may be covering some of the pain...0

Glad to hear you’ve had your first post surgery BM. Hopefully all heals up well.
I’ve had the manometry test too. I have very high pressure. Even when I heal though, the scar tissue opens back up.
Good luck, Ive heard the first few weeks are the worst but then gets better.

Hey, I am so much better! A little bleeding after using the bathroom, and a bit of discharge during the day, but I am thrilled with the no pain!0

Should probably mention I had to have an extra week of antibiotics, and an extra type as well - I had it checked by my GP who said it looked a little red, so the extra antibiotics were just in case. Also I am still, 6 weeks on, taking Lactulose as I darent risk a hard poo. Im pretty sure I dont need it as I have a pulse and fibrey diet, but I cannot open the wound back up ahain!

Better to be safe. It’s only been around 6 weeks. I’m sure by three months you will be fully healed. It can’t hurt to keep softening for a while longer. Does it feel like you can do larger poo now?
