URGENT ADVICE NEEDED!!

Postby Bobcat » 09 Jan 2011, 04:07

I'm in absolute agony this morning. All I could eat yesterday was cream of chicken soup!!
Has anyone with migraines used the Recogesic cream? I suffer badly from migraine but I'm so desperate I'm thinking of trying this.
I also still haven't used the Istillagel as I'm not sure what to do!!
Could someone please advise as I'm at my wits end!! I've just sat crying on a toilet full of blood!

Hey bobcat,
I know how you feel, I used to live off vegetable soup and it is no way to live!!
I don't suffer that often with migraines but use Rectogesic when I need to, it does cause a throbbing headache when first used but will ease off during the day, infact, the more you keep using the lesser the headaches, don't let it deter you from using as Recto can be quite effective with the pain.
I've never used Instillagel but found more info which may be useful to you here: http://www.clinimed.co.uk/urology-continence-care/products/instillagel.aspx
Try having a warm/hot bath after having a bowel movement and sit in it for 20-30 mins, this should bring blood flow to the area and soothe the pain a bit, most of us here swear by soaking in the bath 3-4 times a day.
Good Luck - Steve

Hi - the pain can be scary, and especially with the blood. I don't get migraines, but I did get headaches from rectogesic the first two times I used it, but after that, they more or less went away.
The baths are critical. I also sit on a heating pad most of the day too. The heat really helps me, although I've heard of some people alternating between cold packs and heat throughout the day also. Maybe this is good if you are bleeding - I'm not sure. We are all finding our way through the dark together on this!
As soon as I wake up, I take paracetemol (on an empty stomach, so I wouldn't take ibuprofen), which I have ready to go on my nightstand.
Hope my tips, from my last 3 months of experience (only), help you!

I only use a heat pad now since it's the heat that helps with blood flow, I did try ice a couple of years ago but it only numbed the area for a short while then the throbbing returned, I also tried Anuice when my hemmies and fissure were really bad, btw, Anuice isn't for the faint hearted, the applicator is like some kind of dildo which you place in the freezer before use then insert in the anus, the inside of the applicator has a special gel in it that freezes while the exterior is not as cold, anyway it's one of those experiences that I want to forget..
