Good for you working on the referral! Keep us posted. I too have been walking around with this problem for WAY too long (five years for me, on and off).

Im sick of smearing stuff on my ass without actually knowing if it's a fissure.
Maybe it's something else like a skin tag / scar that keeps moving about getting infected...
hope i can get a spot at the GP tomorrow and have me forwarded..

mk87,
Have you been seeing pus? If you have, for how long?

No pus.
Went to the GP and i am being referred to an internist who is specialized in these conditions as well.
It was a different GP than i requested, she looked at it and definitely said it's a wound and it doesn't want to heal. She thought it was weird that it didn't heal in those 5 months. She doesn't perse think it would require surgery but the underlying reason has to be figured out.
Getting a letter from the internist in a week or so.

That's good you are getting to see someone soon. Please keep us posted, I'm very interested in what they say. Hopefully the doctor is right and this won't require surgery.
What made you think there's infection? Did your GP say anything about that?
Take care, hoping things get better for you soon!

Well i can't think of any other reason why the wound got there.
I can't remember if there was always a small piece of tissue there, maybe there was and it has just gotten worse over time i dunno.
yeah i'll get an invitation in about a week. we'll see what he or she comes up with. Hopefully nothing serious.

Got a call today and was told i was able to visit the doc the end of February. Which is a long time, but i presume there are more pressing matters to be dealt with than fissures.
using wheatgrass in the meantime, which doesn't help curing, but it soothes the area better than anything and longer than anything else i tried.

2 more weeks till my appointment with the specialist.
So far the pain has subdued.
Used wheatgrass for a week, than didn't have a BM for 1.5/2 days. After that the pain has gone mostly away. came back a couple of times, used wheatgrass on and off but i felt that it only irritated the tissue so i stopped using everything and so far im pain free.
I can have a regular BM. The only thing that still hurts is the skintag, it won't go away and the pain is there when you touch.
But other than that the pain is almost completely numbed down compared to how i used to feel.
Let's see what the doc says....

I went to the specialist today, explained what was going on and since when etc. how i felt previous before the fissure, no to little blood loss etc. normal bowels.
Doc said it looked okay from the outside, then saw a skintag and did a digital examination. She said if it were acute than i would be hitting someone due to the pain.
Since there is Colitis in the family, the doc requested a sigmoidoscopy, along with an additional blood test due to some infection numbers in my previous blood tests.
The pain has numbed down compared to previous weeks, so there must be something changing.
Doc opted that there would be two options, either again use the creme or a dilation procedure, but that wasn't recommended since the pain numbed down. So i'll just continue with isosorbidedinitrate i guess...
Can't wait for the tests to be over with. Don't think they'll be too bad, but as with any test, it's not fun.
but in the end, yes it's a fissure.. Image
