Discharged but can't pass stool

Postby dmcff » 08 Jun 2023, 11:41

I was discharged from a local hospital two days ago, had been diagnosed with a chest infection and 40 degree fever, was given IV antibiotics and orally administered calcium tablets, which brought my temperature down to normal, but am now unable to pass any stool. Yesterday I took 4 sachets of macrogol, and today 2 sachets. My fissure hurts as usual, and I am wondering if it may be safe to use a different laxative - I have senokot tablets, but am wary of taking them. I think the constipation may have been triggered by the stress of transferring from hospital to home.

Sorry to hear that you have been unwell, but great that you have recovered enough to be sent home.

(Obviously), I'm not a doctor, and you could check with yours, but many doctors of mine, and my husband's, in the past, have recommended Sennekot, and said that it is one of the gentlest products of its kind on the market. I understand your concern though, because with our histories, we want to be extra careful about getting it right and not making things worse. Good luck! I hope that things move for you soon.

Things are finally moving again, thank goodness. Macro alone was enough.
