Had the day from hell!! Never ever ever ever accept a colonoscopy awake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with a sore butt and fissuress etc.............EVER!!!!!!!!

Aww Andrea, I'm so sorry to hear you had a rough time! You would think they would have made it as comfortable as possible considering you had a fissure!

Not sure how the law works where you live, but it might be worth asking a lawer about mal practice. Long shot I know but I have talked to a lot of people over the last 10+ years and have never heard of someone being awake. Not saying it doesn't happen , it just seems wrong.
UPdate-just read some articles on the net and I guess not everyone chooses to be asleep. I have had 2 and would not want to be awake.
Just like if I was in prison. I would want to sleep through that too.

Thank you everyone for your support. I am fine today. Getting an MRI next wednesday and waiting for letter from hospital to have some exploritory surgery in theatre. I will never lol let anyone examine me that way as long as I live. And, call me a wuss? But I stopped the procedure as it was unbearable! Apologies for my rant the day of the procedure by the way! :oops:
