Hello All,
It's been a long time since my last post, 4 years in fact.
The main fissure that had been causing me trouble never went away, was sometimes dormant for a few months, but always came back.
Sometimes I'd just leave it, and sometimes I would see a doctor and be given creams/suppositories.
Well about 2 months ago it was playing up again, and my proctologist was on holiday.
So I found another one close by, who told me that this fissure will never heal.
I'd had it 7 years, and it was covered in a large amount of scar tissue.
He advised me to see the consultant at the hospital, who confirmed that it does indeed need to be cut out.
The operation went well, I was in hospital for 2 days, as they wanted me to do a BM before leaving. The pain only really kicked in on the 4th day post op.
Even despite heavy painkillers the pain was excruciating when using the bathroom, and showering afterwards.
This bad pain lasted for about a week, after which I stopped taking painkillers as I just didn't need them anymore.
I'm now 5 weeks post op, and only have a slight twinge of pain now and then.
All in all, I am glad I had the surgery, and the majority of the pain was comparable to the pain of the fissure.
