I totally agree with everything Alpine said, although, I did and do still drink coffe and not decaf. It never really bothered me. I did get rid of the coke's everyday and just did an occasional one. I also did and still do eat high fiber, but I also ate some junk and still do. As long as I take Miralax I have no problems with what I eat. I was barely getting any fiber in my diet before my fissure, so I am eating very healthy now, which is good, but I don't think the fissure cares what you are eating as long as it is not sharp or spicy.

My diet, which I know is not good, but all I feel I can manage and cope with life as I wait to get all of this over with...
Morning:
Tiny amount of coffee
Half a cup of hot milk
Toasted American biscuit with butter and honey
Most mornings, 0.12mg Lorazapam for the spasms
Half a cinnamon metamucil 'cookie'
Lunch and dinner (combined)
Mashed potato
Cream cheese - reduced fat
Vitamin enriched firm soy
Carrots liquidized, some times peas
Organic chicken stock
Dollop of butter; about 2tsp of organic olive oil
One drop of Vitamin D3 which contains 2,000IU
Evening
Tsp of Manuka honey
Another toasted biscuit
Small piece of choc
MOM
0.75 Lorazapam
Drink about 4-5 cups of water during the day - warm.
I never deviate. Too scared. I have retained my weight at 55kg on this for about six months.
Can't wait to get back to normal. Can hardly believe there was a day when I ate normally. Curry, Chinese food, etc., etc., etc.

savaici - I'm not deviating from my diet, either - due to the fear of making things worse.
That said, yesterday I had burning and discomfort (even after a fairly easy BM) . . . so, I don't know.
FTR, I've probably lost a good 15 lbs.
Breakfast - Oatmeal (with a small amt. of sugar and butter)
Late morning/lunch - Konsyl, then a small bowl of steamed veggies and avocado.
Konsyl again - then I started Miralax last night
Supper - plain salad or small bowl of pasta (no meat involved).
THAT is it for me - and I haven't been hungry. However, when my pain spikes back up, I have to wonder if any of this is making a difference . . .

I cheated yesterday and had a goat cheese/mushroom quesadilla with asparagus for lunch :( but I'm taking the metamucil - walmart brand and drinking water and juice and hot chamomille tea, being active, and eating fruit and prunes - I want to try the miralax too..

granny, that lunch sounds like it was soooo good. I've been eating a SMALL bowl of steamed brussel sprouts w/ avocado for lunch - for at least two weeks now.

Sue, maybe you're right . . . but I'm so doggone afraid that my stools will be too big and bulky, that I'm afraid of WHAT I ate - and - that I'll eat too much.
I also don't know quite what would be the wrong foods to eat . . . I'm not much of a meat eater, anyhow, especially red meat (eewww!) - and then part of it is that when I'm depressed or in pain, I don't feel like eating.
But I don't want to get sick, either. (Actually, this AF already makes me feel like I'm sick.)
I'm not a nervous eater - it's just the opposite with me. My anxiety is climbing, because I'll see my crs in two days.

Well I still eat meat, just keep it to the small portions.
I saw my CRS this morning, and it was not terrible news, but not great either.
He still says that anterior fissures on women are hard to heal. He does think that the sentinel I had removed last year may have left scar tissue that led to this predicament. If my last CRS had suggested the possibility of a fissure, I wouldn't have had that procedure. But I don't know if it would have made a difference as I must have already compromised there.
Well anyways, Here's what he had to say about the dietary restrictions;
Coffee, Chocolate and caffeine in general is a vasoconstrictor, and therefore can increase pressure in the anal muscles. Which of course is the opposite of what you wish to achieve.
The summer berries are a symptomatic thing he has noticed. An increase in AFs at that time of year associated with eating a lot of fresh berries.
The citrus thing is because citrus (especially) grapefruit, can interact with medications.

Well. I love chocolate - but not enough to eat it, if it means it will aggravate things down below!
I'm not a big citrus fan - it aggravates my IBS - and I don't drink coffee (love the way it smells, though).
Yes, woi - that's really annoying that your procedure may have compromised that area -- but like you said, maybe things were already delicate in there . . .?
What I've realized is how the nerve endings down below - if disrupted - can really throw a person's life out of whack. I can't imagine having to live like this for the rest of my life - and I know none of us wants that.
