Yes, I know the routine. Wouldn't it be good if it just went away over night and we felt normal again?

I would love to wake one morning after having a BM the previous evening and just feel normal, with no rectal pain. I jealously watched my daughter riding my exercise bike today, sad that I could not do so as well.

Yes, it certainly does Anemone. One of the things that sucks about this is that there is no outward appearnce of a problem, save for an occasional grimmace, so folks don't understand just how messed up you are. I have this same issue with my neuro-psych thing as well. Since you don't look that different (no casts, visible wounds, or any of the symptoms folks relate with other serious illness), people seem perplexed if you can't join in an activity.

That's the biggie. You look fine so why don't you do the stuff you used to do?
Fortunately I have been able to explain to friends and family what's going on and they've all been very understanding, but there are some people you just don't want to talk to it about.
My work have been great (I had to tell my boss as I felt so wretched) Still doesn't help thought does it?

Stress is absolutely a factor. Stress causes involuntary muscles to contract, and the internal sphincter muscle is most definitely an involuntary muscle.
I find that my AF hurts more during Sunday night because I would be stressed about the start of a busy week. As well, I'm a dentist, and I notice my AF hurts due to anal clenching when I work on difficult patients.
There is a program called Relax MP on Apple Store that plays nature sounds. Try it!

I like to meditate to nature sounds. They help me fall back to sleep too.
My AF hurts more when my daughter is giving me a hard time.
stress = tension= more stress = well something had to give I guess.
Have you tried an electric heating pad Toothd? I like to sit on mine in the evenings and it helps relieve some of the tension. Magnesium is a good for muscle tension too, and if you take enough of it, it will loosed your stools a bit too.

I only have a heating pad for the car, but I do find, like you, when my son gives me a hard time it feels worse too (like you say, stress factor).
I've been taking magnesium for a few months now and never have (or had) trouble with hard stools - which is why I'm wondering why I got the first fissure and now the next one. I'm thinking of trying fairy dust next!
Hoping this will be the last fissure I ever get, but not that confident :-(

From everything I've read, LIS is the most surefire way to guarantee no comebacks. After the first one last year, it really got me down that I again got another AF this year. I went through twenty years of gastrointestinal issues before the docs discovered some bad bacteria was the root of repeat ulcers and gastritis. I most certainly don't want to go through twenty years of this!
Saw my CRS today and LIS is scheduled for the 27th. Hope you're doing well.
