I have been unable to find anything that is 100% aloe vera. It would go bad and decay after just a couple days. I worry about the preservatives in such a sensitive area.
May I ask what brand you use?
Maybe they sell it here in Canada too...
Thanks again,
Tanya

hi there, i'm using http://www.drugstore.com/fruit-of-the-earth-aloe-vera-100-gel-crystal-clear/qxp16732
to me, it works, but u have to know different things work for different people as many factors come into healing, not just one..

Thanks Dwarf!
Sounds a lot like the Jason's brand I use.
I always test things out on my forearm before I use it anywhere more sensitive ; )
I know it won't bother me short term as I already used it a few times back when I thought it was a hemorrhoid. But I was worried about long term usage.
Good to know it hasn't bothered you long term!

LIS = lateral internal sphincteroctomy.
Sounds much worse than it is though. It's a small cut under the skin to the sphincter muscle, to force it to 'let go' it's death hold. :)

Thanks Tanya.
Hopefully unnecessary for me, but possible haemmorroidectomy and skin tag removal. Anyone else had these done. My consultant makes it sound horrendous.

Hey Arsectomy,
hemorrhoidectomy does sound painful. No walk in the park there. They can't just do banding?
Do you really need to remove the skin tag? I thought the body grew then as a protection to a fragile area of skin (fissure site). I had one removed fall 2010, and wish I hadn't. I think it made the area more problematic, because now it has scar tissue from that as well as the fissure.
If you don't find the answers you need here, there is another forum for fissures. It's the yahoo anal fissure group. You can look through their old posts too. I remember reading about people there having hemorrhoid procedures done.

It is worth really researching having hemmy ops. I had three and wish I never had. And I had a thrombosed one, which was hellish. I cannot tell a lie, it is very painful. Sorry Arsectomy. Quite a few CRS now say that this is a part of everyday life, hemmies that is. It left me with such scar tissue which may have contributed to the fissure that I have now. However, this was years ago, and possibly it is easier now, but unless you have terrible pain and feel you cannot stand it, I would try to find another route through research. Best of luck!
