i too get the spasms for ages after, i think it's as my g.p described as being in a consant restrictive spasm,after 13 weeks of this (4 weeks so far on the rectogestic(nitrate)ointment and no improvement from any creams etc,he said when i saw him yesterday that he will refer me to a n.h.s specialist,i think a c.r.s specialist in the u.s.a,canada is the equavilent to a proctologist on the n.h.s in england, i sit on a warm hot water bottle and do the sitz bath,i sit in a big bowl of warm water! it is nice to do this but is only nice til you get back out of it,lidiocane was not for me it seemed to burn and make the spasms worse,mine was hydro and lidiocane, wonder if you are getting the same response as i was??if you type in your space bar,n.h.s info for anal fissures it is quite informative,it was because of reading that and printing it off i went back to my g.p yesterday and he agreed to the referal,i did read that if you spasm in that area a lot,while you are in the bath gently massage that area,not deep inside just around the outside of th entrance,haven't tried it myself yet,but anything is worth a try

Ive had those too. If I dont have a BM for two days I am great..but the BM totally wrecks any enjoyment of the day about an hour or so afterward. Even lying in bed is awkward.

Sitting on a heating pad seemed to calm the spasms down a bit but standing up reminds me who's in charge.
Sometimes the spasms last for 8 hours or so it's just awful!
