Tomorrow's the Day

Postby sadies-day » 27 Jun 2012, 15:22

Well my LIS is scheduled for first thing tomorrow morning. I'm quite anxious, having the typical doubts, etc. but once it's over I'll at least be on the mend and hopefully never have to deal with this again. I'm sure my wife feels the same way!

Thanks for the well wishes. The doctor did his part early this morning. Now onto the recovery phase or for my body to do it's part!

Well, I made it through the first night. My bottom hurts a little but not enough to take any serious pain meds. Good 'ole Motrin is doing just fine. Took my first bath last night and one first thing this morning. I've been putting non-stick gauze on the wound after my bath. Still kind of bloody but I presume that will past. I like everyone else, am dreading that first BM. I took two stool softeners yesterday and put some benefiber in my morning coffee. Am already bored out of my mind and want to get out and do something but I know I have to rest.

Yes definitely rest up!
I am one week post op and because I had a "good" day yesterday I think I then over did it today (i went to the shops to get some groceries) and am suffering for it this evening as am much sorer than had been the last couple of days. That said I can now sit on my bum and the brusing is fading and the swelling is going down.
I didn't think to put anything on the wound like gauze?? My doctor didn't mention doing that. The nurses at the hospital told me to just use a sanitary pad to catch the blood etc.

How much bleeding should be expected? I had quite a bit after my first BM. The gauze seems to be still catching some as well. I just had my wife go out and get me some sanitary pads since the gauze seems to fall out pretty easy.
