Please help me diagnose...back to CRS tomorrow!

Postby ajl1239 » 02 Jan 2013, 08:50

Hi all,
I was at a CRS several weeks ago, and then had an MRI because he diagnosed me with a fistula.
Basically, my symptom is this about 1 cm x 1 cm thing that looks almost like a wart, but is red and seems to drain clearish-white-red puss at all times of the day. White color fills up in the top and then that seems to leak out and cover my anal area in clearish-reddish-shiny, sticky-ish fluid.
Do you guys think this is an abscess? Or is it possible that it is an infected pile/skin tag? I say the latter because on one side of the 'thing' I can use my finger and sort of lift it up from the surrounding buttocks/anal skin.
Thanks for your help!

No, no bad smell or particular pain. Just too much 'discharge' for lack of a better word!
Ughhh...gross. Take Vitamin C, you guys! I think it is a fistula :( :( :(

No, his secretary screwed up and forgot he was on vacation, so I have to wait until Monday.
Guys, I know this is an awkward question, but is the bottom crack in your butt between your tailbone and the anal area supposed to feel pretty hard/dense as compared to soft and squishy?

Friends, just got back from CRS. He said it was a 'very' superficial fistula -- have surgery booked for next Tuesday, which will be a fistulotomy to lay open the track and look around for any other issues. He said most healing would be done within a week, with complete healing in 2-3 weeks. (Hopefully he's not being too optimistic!)

Yes, thanks very much indeed! The problem is that this entire time I thought my central problem was an anal fissure when, in reality, my central issue was the anal fistula. So many GPs and surgeons are absolutely incapable of distinguishing between the two -- it's shocking. You really do need a CRS if you have this condition.
