Miralax and Metamucil

Postby sis3 » 24 Jan 2013, 13:05

Hi,
I have a combination of fissure and hemorrhoids. I take Metamucil for fiber just once a day but still am experiencing semi hard stools. I was wondering can I take Miralax to soften my stools a little. I plan on taking it every other day.since before taking Metamucil I was taking colace which was not workingwith the Metamucil and i still had hard stools. Has anyone taken them both? I was taking miralax by itself but I was going to the bathroom to much. Any info woud be helpful.

As per my CRS, I take a full dose of Miralax every morning and 1 1/2 tsp. of Konsyl (similar to Metamucil) TWICE a day (a dose with lunch and a dose with dinner).
It keeps me regular and keeps everything nice and soft!

Hi, the miralax works great, metamucil is a bulking fiber and if you don't drink enough liquid throughout the day it can have the opposite effect. Try adding shredded wheat for breakfast or some other high fiber food in the morning, it's natural and works just like metamucil.
