LIS this Wednesday, April 10

I'm so thankful for this forum. It's been more instructive than any other information I've come across. I found you guys after my first CRS (from hell) appointment.
I saw my second CRS on Friday and what a completely welcome change from the first one. First she chatted with me and discussed typical options like nitro, etc. She said she was just going to look... and only do a digital exam if she didn't see a fissure so she could check for cancer. I asked about an anoscopy and she said not with an active fissure - dr. #1 had done one and it was horrific. Well - the fissure was very evident so she just looked and did a minimum of pressing, etc.
After the exam she said it was bad, and developing an infection. She said she didn't think any of the creams would be useful at this stage and I should have surgery, sooner rather than later.
She has very good reviews online and an excellent educational background... plus the entire office seemed very caring... so I said to just do it.
I've been reading some of the LIS stories here and am quite apprehensive, but this has interfered with my life for so long that I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones and get relief with the surgery.

Good luck with your surgery. I am sure if you have read all the info here you will be well prepared. Especially to make sure you are offered adequate pain relief for the first few days and that the post op BM is soft. Keep drinking lots of fluids until just before you have to fast to make sure you are not dehydrated post op.
No need to be apprehensive..you have found yourself a great CRS and have made a positive step towards a pain free future. Please keep us posted XX Pia

Thanks so much, PIA, jr2, and owmybum,
The support on this forum is so warm and helpful :D
I found out more about my CRS. She did her surgical residency and internship at Yale/New Haven Hospital, and she did her Fellowship in CRS at the Mayo Clinic.
I'm still very apprehensive but those are some nice credentials!
Last night I had a nightmare combining this week's L&O SVU with the surgery... the psycopathic kid (he was my son in the nightmare) was coming after me with a scalpel... reality and fantasy combining?
I need to start thinking meditative thoughts!

Oh, that's great news to learn about your surgeon!
Yikes on the dream! I'm thinking watching nature shows with lots of cute baby pandas or maybe some peaceful birds and butterflies migrating might be a better choice for your poor anxious mind. lol

She has some GREAT credentials.... I would be very happy to put my bum in her hands!
It's natural that you feel anxious... And wired dreams are usually part and parcel of that!
When I get anxious I usually dream my husband is trying to kill me! I wake up shouting at him to stop it, but he is just lying there snoring his head off! Aren't dreams wired?
I like jrs idea..... Baby pandas! Aaah

FLhopeful, so good to hear that we had contributed as members here to help other members deal with their fissure problems.
So sad that you had a bad first experience with your doctor, but now look at you, you went back and got another doctor and a great one.
I hope your surgery goes well and recovery be a fast and easy one.
Please let us know how things goes after post op and keep posting if you feel nervous or anxious before the op.
You know we be here to listen.
