Obviously this is a question for the ladies. It is well know that sitz baths are a great help for fissures. I will admit that I have not been able to do the recommended 3 baths per day, but I am trying to get back to doing them as often as possible. The issue I have is what do I do when I'm on my period? Can/Should I still do the sitz baths? I know it maybe sounds like a dumb question, but at this point I need all the answers I can get. Thanks in advance!

Nothing is dumb on here, so don't you worry!
Obviously, things are a little messier when you get your period - especially if you use pads, but I wouldn't stop the Sitz baths for sure. Your period isn't going to interfere with the general process in anyway. I'd just wipe clean the best you can (menstrual stuff) and then continue with the Sitz bath. I use tampons, so it's never kind of as "messy" as pads and tbh, I have never used a Sitz bath - just a detachable shower head to clean up after BM's and to freshen up with periods too and regular baths too. That works well for me :)

Yep, it's just fine! Perhaps not so pleasant when cleaning up, but people take sitz baths after surgery (and childbirth!) when there can be significant blood.

You might even find your menstrual flow isn't even a problem if you're doing them in a bathtub. A lot of times the water pressure alone kind of keeps it from flowing very much while you're in there. Added benefit is relief of menstrual cramps.

Hi AnxietyGrl, I continue with sitz even during my periods and it is no problem at all. The flow stops due to the water pressure. In fact as jr said it helps with the abdominal cramps as well. so go for it!!
