No sign of fissure but bleeding?

Postby MONI07 » 13 Jul 2013, 06:50

I'm not sure what to do. When I first noticed bleeding weeks ago I went to GP and she had a look ad said she couldn't see anything unusual on the outside except some largish old hemmy scars. She felt with her finger and couldn't feel anything unusual inside so just said from my symptoms and the way I was talking it is most likely a 'Fissure or tear' is it possible to have something like that the dr can't see? I thought fissures were very visible?

Hey MONI07
I've heard of Dr's missing internal deep fissures before in here, especially if they are hidden underneath a fold and if your not dealing with a CRS. (buzzword "second opinion")
Here's the thread link here on "hidden fish"

Hey listen, you may be an ideal candidate for self exam shower finger probe. You say the Dr. did it to you and you did not mention too much discomfort from this.
This may help you in the long run to better understand how your progressing in your healing phase. For years the shower finger probe has helped me to learn a lot about my fissure and even today though I've been healed for a long time now I still use that technique to gauge when the canal is getting weaker.
That gives me a head-start to combat any new fish trying to swim upstream if you know what I mean (saved me from re-tears also). It doesn't appear that you suffer from being to tight down there where this is not possible. Give it a try.
I'll completely understand though if you will not feel comfortable doing this, and if so no problemo.

A lot of fissures are missed at first. They can be tiny tiny (but hurt like hell) and can often be high up.
If you have all the fissure symptoms, it's more than likely that's what you have.
Hope that helps. X

My doctor thought it was hems at first because that's what I thought it was (for 3 years). Took about 3 months to diagnose after the lidocaine didn't do much. I then was treated for fissures but no luck after 6 months of other creams.
Only then was I referred to a specialist CRS by which time my fissures had created skin tags which my CRS knew from those that I had fissures. One felt high up and the other down low and a little external.
GPs are great but can get things wrong. If only I was referred earlier, I may have already healed by now. If you believe it's a fissure and the creams aren't working, get yourself referred ASAP. This is a condition that if not treated, may affect your life for a very long time, so it's best to be sure, your health is very important.

Thanks for that.. A lot of the people on here made it sound like AF are very visible. I have the itching and the spasms. The thought of a finger probe makes me shudder as that really hurts! It seems to be very tight lately.

That's true, My Gastro, Doctor, told me she found a healed, scared over fissure at five o'clock, then told my G.P, when I went to her in pain, that it might be a fistula, lol, then i went back to the Gastro, Doctor (back and forth)..Image  she looked at me again and said it wasn't a fistula but a re tear, partially inside and out. OH MY. Please do go back, try to see a CRS, or Gastrologist until your satisfied.

I have made another appointment to see another dr.. hoping to get a 2nd opinion. I am referred to see a gastrologist but I have to wait a few months for that. I have another appointment in 3 weeks with the dr.
