Healed with posterior support toilet seat

Postby guiness » 15 Aug 2013, 16:26

So im happy to report that im healed. I was supposed to go to the dr today, but they said i dont have to come in if im not having problems. Why waste the time just so the doctor can look up my butt for no reason.
Anyway, ive posted about this in another thread... Ive been using a new experimental toilet seat that has a posterior support that you sit up against while you go. This support is meant to minimize tearing of a posterior fissure during defecation. It helps to heal the fissure and help prevent straining.
I had a chronic fissure with symptoms dating back one year, summer 2012. I had intense itching and bleeding. It progressed to the point of intense pain after a colonoscopy i had in march 2013. I was on my ass, and missed lots of work, lost a lot if weight and i was getting desperate. Desperate enough to try this crazy toilet seat that jhh posted about here on the boards. I ordered it from germany and also got the clinical trial study off of pubmed . So i put the seat on the toilet and have been using it religiously for the last seven weeks. Progressively my pain decreased week by week. Now i have no pain 95 percent of the time, only the occasional ache or sting here and there. So i still got to be careful, and im still using nifedepine for another month to ensure full and total healing. I also use coconut oil to clean and no toilet paper unless im away from home, and yes i take miralax everyday.
Anyway i was going to go to dr to confirm my healed state but i got better things to do today, like going for a run with the dog in this nice warm weather.
Definately, im getting my life and my strength back now.

That is great that it has helped you so much! I had read that it could be helpful but had no idea where to get one. Thanks for posting the link. Does it come with instructions on how to position yourself on it? Thanks!

I just found JHH posting about the toilet seat from May. I don't know how I missed it. Thanks for posting about it JHH! I wish the colorectal specialists would mention this as something to try before surgery, even if there has not been a ton of research done on it yet.
