I have a appointment with a general surgeon next week so hoping that he is going to give me something else. The now all I'm using is instillagel, baths, pain killers and lactulose. I only having a BM every two to give myself time to heal in between. Why not Vaseline?

Well I have actually used Vaseline a lot myself but the Chemist I talked to on the ward rounds when I was in hospital for the botox said that Vaseline is petroleum based and as such sucks moisture from the skin a little. He suggested lanolin (fat) based creams with vitamin E for skin healing as this is the problem with a AF.
I am just recovering from the Botox and the pain has died a little but sore stomach trying to adjust eating habits and what to eat. Feeling full most of the day and then some constipation feelings.
People who have never had AF just do not understand what this does to your life. Everything in your life revolves around the next toilet stop and what pain will need to be overcome for whatever period of time that will be... I hope this botox works longer term.

Hi sarg, Im sorry, but that sounds crazy to me. Vaseline has been used for many years to moisturize, and what he tells you are just the oposite! Never before have I heard vaseline can suck moisture from the skin, and I cant find anything like that on the web. I think he is flat out wrong!

Here is a little read on vaseline: http://health.howstuffworks.com/skin-ca ... urizer.htm
