Re: How to apply Diltiazem

I developed a very sore itch too with the diltiazem. It only took a few days. To calm down after I stopped it. I used some baby nappy cream with zink for a few days which really helped to soothe the area. I have now switched to rectogesic, which seems to be ok.....touch wood.

Great news! Or, maybe not so great, since now you will have to try a new cream. Nifedipine and nitro are still good options for you, so good luck!
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Well, I'm 95% healed. I feel fine most of the time, but I'm always aware that there's a weakness and I have to be careful not to get constipated. Last week I did get a tiny bit constipated, and had some pain again, which I wrote about on my thread "A one person experiment on AF drugs". I'm better now.
I didn't have surgery - just nifedipine then diltiazem, then nitro. The rest of healing was done with diet, water and heat.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant

How long did it take you to get to that point?

Well, you can read my thread "A one person experiment on AF drugs", because I've been using it as a sort of diary. But, long story short, my fissure started in May and after a lot of trial and error, I started to heal in August. So I've had it a lot easier than some!

The area is red and sore and it really stings the fissures like hell when I apply. I don't have a rash! Just soreness,a bit like my skin is burnt...I am stuffed because I have already used Nitro had Botox and I am not healing. My next appointment is in Jan with the CRS. Help...... I need a new lower body.

Oh dear, Rachael, I am so sorry! Have you tried Nifedipine? It seems to have the fewest side effects of the three prescription drugs available.
Are you considering LIS? It seems to help a lot of people - I hope your CRS will pinpoint the best treatment for you.

No! I've never had any stinging sensation, nor anything in the way of a negative sensation (burning, whatever). Get that checked!

Thankyou all.
Hi scientist, my CRS is reluctant to do LIS due to me being female and having IBS. My next appointment is on 13th Jan, I plan to go in armed and dangerous! I want this sorted out once and for all. I will ask which surgery is suitable for me and what the pros and cons are. If I am not happy, I will seek a second opinion. I am just so miserable with this, day in, day out.
