Inflamed skin tag

Postby leon10 » 09 Dec 2013, 08:27

I have recently been told that i have an inflamed skin tag! Doctor has said to take some cream and keep the area clean. It really is quite uncomfortable and painful! Has anyone had these before and what is the best way to reduce the inflamation and pain?

Thanks!

That must be so uncomfortable!
I think most of us have skin tags. They go with the territory. Keep it clean and dry, wear loose clothing. If lidocaine cream works for you, try that.
Good luck.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Hi leon10

Try and mark when that tag flares up and ask yourself at that time
what could have caused it. Of course if after a bm, try less
straining and pushing.

Perhaps wiping after a bm may cause a flare-up, so you may want
to be gentler while cleaning up by perhaps using wet
wipes and dabbing dry.

Good luck to you and while your at it, Happy Holidays.

P.S. Some anti-inflammatory creams can thin the kin down there if used too long
so be careful.

Thanks guys!

Has anyone had them removed by a doctor? Is it painful? I think i might have no choice because the pain had really got me down.

I had a skin tag that I removed by tying a thread around the base. It dried up and fell off and it healed nicely. First day it was a little sore but after that was not an issue.

I have seen this done on a skin tag that was on somebody's neck.
There was still some left over.
I think the tying process for the one on your bottom, must have been quite fiddly!

Yes, I had to have have help and it's not easy to tie. I really did not want another cut back there since I already had a fissure, so I gave it a try. I figured if it was to bad I would just cut the string.

Tying at the base is the key even then it may not be perfectly smooth.
