MRI shows nothing

Postby rio » 10 Feb 2014, 14:35

Hi!
I had MR imaging of pelvic floor and today I received the results. No inflammation or fistula formation visible.
I felt great relief, but the pain is still here.
My personal GP doctor (A new one which seems more humane than the former one) told me that she has rectal pain from herniated disc in her spine. She said that many times she feels like "she would have a stinging nettle showed up her butt".
She want me to go to an X-ray imaging of the lower spine. I hoped that a part of the lower spine was already checked by MRI, but sadly it was not.
A month prior I got UTI and anal pain i( n february 2013) , I slipped on the ice and landed on the metal pole which hit my right hip (the 50 cm high metal poles that are placed beside the road to stop cars to drive or park where it is not wanted - does they have a special name in english?) . The shock from the fall was great and maybe it caused some injury to the spine. I will go and check the spine, but perhaps it would be better to have a MRI of the spine instead of the x-rays.
Disabling burning, drilling pain in anal area for almost a year, started after UT infection. Small anal fissure diagnosed, turned out it is probably not the cause of pain, MRI shows no inflammation or fistula. Grateful to forum members for support.

:smilyhug: Hi Rio,
I was wondering how you have been getting on... So good to hear from you. Glad that the MRI didn't show anything, although I suppose you still don't have an answer for the pain. Let's see what happens when they look at your spine. I do hope you get an answer soon. Please keep battling on, you will get there my lovely. Have you had any improvement in the pain at all?

:thankyou:

Thank you Rachael for your kind reply. I had better days. The pain lasts all day and occasionally wakes me from sleep too. The upper part of the anal canal is sore, like schratched and in addition my back hurts a lot when sitting or standing. I am out of ideas what to do and I am depressed too.
I understand from your posts that you too still do not know what might be wrong with you and struggle to live in constant pain. How are you dealing with depression now? How are your cats? Do you have a cat called Grumpy?
