Reaction to Diltiazem!

Postby Phil McCrackin » 10 Mar 2014, 02:25

Hi,

I've been using diltiazem on and off for about a week. The first time I used it the very next morning I had a lot of bright blood and itching - my fissure hasn't bled since last year sometime! So I stopped using it for two days and the bleeding stopped. Yesterday I tried it again - in the morning and at night - and this morning the bleeding came back. I think my skin must be very sensitive to this stuff. I'm definitely going to stop using it, because I feel worse, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced bleeding with diltiazem? My skin feels very raw down there at the moment after using this cream.

Cheers.

Yes, I had to stop using diltiazem too after I developed a reaction to it. My intollerence didn't kick in until I'd been using it a few weeks though.
Maybe use something soothing for the time being, like sudocream, to calm things down.
Your crs will prob prescribe you an alternative like rectogesic or nifedipine.

I had the same experience as Owmybum. Definitely get nifedipine or rectogesic (nitroglycerine).
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
