Hi, owmybum. You've been waiting a long time. It's been over a year now since I had 2 advancement flaps done but I can tell you it's worth it. Follow your doctors instructions to the letter and keep the area clean and dry. If you have someone to help you that's even better. My husband did the dressings I had to wear and he would check to make sure I got everything cleaned well. Try to keep your stools on the soft side and good luck. I hope this finally resolves all those problems for you. Try not to be too scared, it's not that bad, just takes a while to completely heal. All the best Suzy.

Hi OMB. You mentioned you will be in the hospital for a night or two after the surgery. Are you going to be on a constipating diet initially, to keep you from upsetting the flap, or did your doc say you will resume a normal diet immediately?

Rachael.... Thanks lovely!

Suzy...... Yes... It's been over a year, and Botox just to see if it would work. I have been waiting for tests, more tests, and I needed to clarify a few key points about my own skin type with mr W before I felt completely happy going ahead with this surgery... Which unfortunatly takes months on the NHS! You have made the whole thing look like a breeze! Lol.... I hope my surgery goes as well as yours!

Asdf..... He didn't mention any special diet, but he did day I will be given an enema to clear me out good and proper so I won't need to go for a couple of days. There is no way on this earth I would intentionally get constipated.... I intent on taking my movicol with me to the hospital and as soon as I eat something, I will carry on as normal with normal dose.

What did other" flappers" do?? Did you take your regular stool softeners as soon as you could or did you wait???

I did two small fleet enemas the day of the surgery. That's it. I resumed a normal diet immediately and pooped the next morning. I'm going to talk about another flap next week and I'll see what they say. I think a house flap is warranted for me too because it adds the most possible tissue to the area. I think we are missing some tissue because the original hemmie surgeon took too much out. Make sense to me.

Yes.... My CRS said that he takes a big fleshy chunk of butt cheek and wedges it in to where the fissure has been cut out. That way there is plenty of flesh with a good blood supply. He says for a while it sits a bit proud, but this is what he finds gives the best chance of complete healing.
We must be missing too much skin after the hemmie surgery... No other explanation.

How have you been asdf?

I'm essentially the same as I was pre-kenalog. I bleed. I'm convinced I still have some level of mucosal stenosis, i.e. missing tissue, just as you said, because the CRS told me he couldn't fit his usual instruments in my butt and had to use the smaller ones. It wouldn't be so big a deal if I was healed, but that is all with 1, maybe 2, open wounds. If the wounds heal, my opening is even smaller, and then inevitably tears right open again. I need more tissue. I shoulda gotten a house flap from the start. I'm convinced.

Thank you Apes! Xx

Question....
Gross, but, around my anus there are tiny hairs... What happens when this skin is moved into the anus where the fissure is?? Will I be able to feel them?? Funny question I know, but it's bugging me! Lol I mean, men must have even more hair down there... Do they laser it off or something??
