It's LIS, I have high resting pressure

Postby Rachael 1984 » 03 Jul 2014, 12:50

Hello everyone...... Well after my appointment today, I'm booked for LIS.
Now I'm really scared! My resting pressure is high, hence why I'm re-tearing.... :poop: he thinks that I'm developing small tears, which heal then re-tear again, which is why I've been in this pain cycle for the last 2 years.
I really didn't expect this! I finally have an answer..... He's explained everything to me, and the incontinence risk is 1%. He said it would be(if it happens) mild soiling and leakage... Then I got scared! But, I can't live like this, so I'm taking the chance. He's quite confident that it will sort this mess out. The surgery will be late summer, I'm on the waiting list.

I'm just really scared now, but i cried on the way home from the hospital too, I think it's total relief to have an answer as to why I'm in constant pain. He seems confident and listened to me, which has made me feel a little less apprehensive. He also said he will examine me when I'm under just to have a look. :nurse:

Please can anybody calm my nerves and give me LIS reassurance! :kickass:

Don't be scared. I know, easy to say, not easy to do. I was scared, too, before my surgery. To the point of wanting to turn around and go home as I walked down the hall at the hospital! :) You know I've had a bumpy road and am not healed yet but to put your mind at ease some, I've had no incontinence and I do have IBS and have had a couple of "episodes" since surgery and all was well.

Do exactly what your doctor says and I'm sure you'll be just fine. Just keep thinking positive thoughts, look at all the success stories here and know you are doing all you can to heal once and for all! I'll be constantly thinking and praying for you!

I can't wait to read your success story!!! :smilyhug:

Incontinence is very unlikely and honestly, I would take the mild incontinence over fissure pain any day. Wouldn't you? My surgery was a breeze and extremely successful. I know this is the answer for you. Best of luck and congratulations.

Thankyou. Xxx

STOT, I hope things are improving for you now...... Xx I'm sure you will post a success story.

Thanks JBL for the reassurance, his long has it been since your LIS? Yes, the Fissure pain is unreal isn't it, so I think I could take the mild incontinence... But hopefully there won't be any. X

I'm 6 weeks post-op now. No fissure pain since a week after surgery. I only suffered for 4 months but it was long enough!

Rachael, So very happy you have an answer. I hope you get bumped up on the waiting list so you can get on with your life. Surgery can be scary, but the pain of fissure is the worst. You have support on the forum anytime you need it, you have been an active member for way to long. It's now your turn to heal. All the best.

Wow JBL, you're doing really well! It sounds like it's been a breeze for you. I hope I will be the same!
Thanks Apes... Yes, after 2 years almost, it's taken it's toll on everything..... I just can't imagine having to live with the pain forever. You are doing well on the Botox? I hope you heal and don't need further treatment. Xx
