Is this a spasm?

Postby msimon » 10 Aug 2014, 00:13

Hi all. I was wondering what an internal sphincter spasm feels like to you? I feel like my butthole becomes a hard rock and it's firm to the touch. I have been using nifedipine and I think it helps it feel more soft and less rock-like but I'm not sure.

'08-'15 Botox for pelvic floor dysfunction
Nov '14 LIS/sentinel tag removal

Mine feels a lot like jlm's. Sometimes there's a pressure-like feeling, almost like I didn't empty during BM, even though I know I did. Taking motrin first thing in the morning helps with any pain. After my BM, hot baths, nifedipine, and my heating pad help the most.
Status: LIS 20 Oct 2014, 2nd LIS 05 March 2018.

When at its worst, mine feels like someone shoved a hot poker up there - it burns. When it's not so bad, the burning is lighter. And it ebbs and flows a bit for a few hours. Eventually drops off by mid to end of day.

Thanks all. If you touch your butthole though...does it feel hard like a rock? and like you would never be able to insert anything like it's so tight?

Do any of you find that it also affects your ability to pee? and feel like you need to even when you don't?

For me it was a deep throbbing pain which got worse if I concentrated on it. Im still not totally sure that it wasn't Levator Ani, but bio feedback helped to a degree and gtn cream definitely helped

My butt was very tight when things were at their worst, would notice it was looser when it wasn't so painful.

Does the burning pain seem to be the entire hole or does it concentrate around the fissure. I get a burning pain on the back left but the fissure is posterior. I am just wondering what the actual burning is...

Mine seem to be the entire hole burning... Sitting increases the intensity of the burn (laying on my stomach as I type)...
