What does it feel like after LIS?

Postby msimon » 10 Aug 2014, 00:16

Hi all. For those of you who have had the LIS done, does your butt feel any different than pre-fissure? I also have levator ani syndrome and am very sensitive down there already. I was just wondering if anyone felt like their butts were more loose or unsupported after the surgery. Thanks :)

So you have both conditions (fissure n las)?
2/14 Fissure developed
3/14 Diagnosed w/ fissure given Nifedipine
4/14 Referred to Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy=Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
5/14 Fissure declared "healed"/chronic anal pain persists
9/5/14 Botox to pelvic floor
9/22 biofeedback

yes I do. I recently got botox for the pelvic floor dysfunction but it's made the fissure worse :(

Hi MS,

I am not sure what you mean my loose or unsupported. I will describe the difference for me below pre and post LIS surgery below:

Pre surgery I always had to push a stool out because my internal sphincter muscle was tight and would not open without pushing out a stool.

Post LIS I no longer had to push a stool out as I could have a BM where the stool would come out without pushing or straining. After LIS I also had a feeling of urgency to use the restroom at BM time as it would get very uncomfortable to hold a stool more then a couple minutes. The BM urgency issue went away about 12 weeks post LIS as the internal sphincter muscle has re-tightened up a little since surgery.
