For those who have had botox

Postby msimon » 16 Aug 2014, 00:12

I have gotten my 3rd round of botox now and it gives me the constant urge to go and I also go very small amounts at a time. I almost can't even pass gas without having to have a poop with it (luckily I am aware of this beforehand). Anyone else get this effect?

I had more urges to go. Some were false alarms and if i sat on the Toilet during them I would have problems. I realized that when I really needed to go there was no holding it back. I would need to get to the toilet immediately or have an accident.

Thanks Apes. What do you mean that if you sat on the toilet during your false alarms you would have problems?

I also have pelvic floor dysfunction so the urgency for me actually made this worse as I had a really strong urge but could not relax the muscles you are supposed to be able to relax. Now I've had botox in both...we'll see what happens...

What were your false alarms like? Did your back end just go all loose or did you have some other issues.

False alarms were a feeling and some pressure that I had to poop but wasn't ready to come out.

When did you get your botox? How is it working for you? Do you know how much they gave you?

Fissure started February 13 2014, Botox May 5. At my request she gave a lot of Botox 30 units on each side and 18 in the middle of the fissure, total 68. Research showed that quantity and placement are key to successful healing. If I was going to recommend I would not get less then 50 units. I had a follow up two weeks ago and was told it has not healed totally. However, I'm pain free outside of a little dis comfort that attribute more to my hem and sentinel tag. My CRS. Recommended I use nifedipine to try and get 100 percent healed. I'm not sure if the Botox is still active. If pain comes back I would elect for a second round of Botox or possibly try the Kenalog people have written about. I still want to avoid surgery.

Did you notice that things got worse for you rather than better initially? I found that I often start bleeding or have more pain at the fissure site (as opposed to spasm all around) in the beginning but then it gets better. I hurt my fissure bad this am on a soft BM that just came out quite wide and I suspect this is the problem when the area is so relaxed it really opens up. So disappointing :(

I don't know about worse, my spasms where a -2 on a scale 1-10. Things were different, I had more pain during the BM early on. Before Botox I did not have pain during the BM just about 20 minutes after the spasm would kick in and last 6 hours or so. I still had spasms eRly on in Botox but things got better week to week. Bleeding was never a big problem I would occasionally get spots of blood on the TP and some streaking on my poop.
