Anyone else get rocket poos?

Postby msimon » 16 Aug 2014, 00:15

Since getting botox I have to pass gas with my BMs and almost only can then and when I do it sure can propel the BM out in probably a non-friendly way. Anyone else get this? I guess we only have so much control but I am so frustrated because I think these damn fissures will persist until my BMs are even remotely friendly :groan:

How long ago did you get botox? Are the BMS soft? try not to strain or even push the gas out. even passing pass while having a BM should not create such force. You may need some dietary changes. good luck

I had botox in my pelvic floor a month ago and just a tiny amount into the internal sphincter 3 days ago as it seems to have really tightened up. As for straining, I really don't have to do that it just comes out abrubtly, almost like it's blocked and then BAM!

Hi msimon,
I have not had botox, but all during life-with-fissure, I've noticed gas behind the poo, and a tendency for the poo to shoot out uncontrollably. Rocket poo is a pretty good description! Apes, it's not to do with straining for me, either. When the rectum is ready to empty, it does its thing and the poo shoots out, followed by gas. And yes, it can be painful. If there is no gas, the poo just drops out.
I don't know what to do about it, other than avoid gassy foods.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Yes, this is exactly it! I am a gassy person as I have IBS and the gas is made worse by all the fiber and stool softening agents. To top things off I have trouble getting the gas out until there is a BM in the way...sets up the conditions for the rocket poo. Before botox it would probably just stay up there until the next day. Actually, often there isn't much there and it often wouldn't come out if I didn't have the gas pushing from behind. I just wonder if it's harmful to the fissure. So little we have control of :(

msimon, maybe use a stool softener that doesn't contain fibre, at least for a while. Miralax or mineral oil (I like Kondremul, it's a nicer version of mineral oil) both work really well to soften, but don't give the gassy side effects that I think are inevitable with fibre.
I stopped taking fibre some time ago, but still eat a lot in my food. I can't bring myself go on an Atkins-like diet, so will put up with rocket poo for now.

At least I have a name for it now! I can think "blast off........" every time I have a BM. :D

lol! it's good to be able to laugh at some of this because to be honest it's brought me to tears today.

Thanks for the advice. I do use Miralax with a tiny bit of Metamucil. I also get a lot of fiber in my diet as I have issues with peristalsis. I actually don't think I make more gas than the average person. I think it just never wants to come out until then. or is able to due to spasms.
