What on earth is wrong with me

Postby Moogdog2013 » 27 Aug 2014, 10:55

Hi all

I haven't been on here for a while now. I've been experiencing anal discomfort for a couple of years now. I've seen three specialists, and even had a CT scan back in June which revealed nothing. I've been using Amytryptiline and rectogesic nitro cream for a while now, and for a few months at least I've been relatively Ok. That was until last week when my back passage started feeling sore again - kind or swollen/bruised if that makes sense. I've felt like this before but as yet no one has been able to identify the cause of the problem. I don't think it's a fissure or haemorrhoids, and I'm not convinced its levator ani syndrome either. Does anyone have any suggestions? I honestly thought I'd turned a corner, but here I am again :(

Moogdog,

I'm sorry to hear that you are still experiencing this pain; unfortunately I can't offer you much help but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Can you tell us what doctors you've been to and where are you located? How did your pain start?
2/14 Fissure developed
3/14 Diagnosed w/ fissure given Nifedipine
4/14 Referred to Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy=Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
5/14 Fissure declared "healed"/chronic anal pain persists
9/5/14 Botox to pelvic floor
9/22 biofeedback

Hi moogdog, so sorry you are suffering. If you have a fissure, this is totally normal. I'm fully healed, but i still have a mild burning after a BM, and the 'swollen' feeling comes and goes. Some days are good, I can even have weeks of no pain, but then it comes back. Feels amost like something is stuck up there. However, the 'swollen' feeling isnt there if i go for 2 BM's a day. Some days i can't get it all out, and that's when i have the feeling of.. well.. a golfball stuck up there? And if i eat foods with alot of acid, it will burn ALOT more, and stay sore all day.. Also, if i push too much during a BM, it also gets 'swollen'. Try to hang in there! You're not alone in this *shit*.

What are your current symptoms? Fissures can be small enough that they can be missed. Were you previuosly diagnosed with a fissure? It could be just a minor setback, people say you can have feelings of discomfort for a very long time after healing.
Fissure 2/13/14 from Colonoscopy
Nitro no help
Nifedipine no help
Botox 5/5/2014 work in progress
HEALED 10/2014
