so...after a painful bout of a few months, I was back on track and almost irritation free for a few weeks. The other day after BM, I felt a twinge down there, gradually followed by a burning/itch - not horribly painful, but irritating beyond all.

It is like a sore, but on the outside of the "exit" - burns/itches. Anyone have a go to cream/ointment for that? I am applying coconut oil, anti itch cream (gold bond), but not much relief...help anyone.

Could possibly be an abscess, though difficult to know. Suggest you see a doctor if the pain worsens.

That sounds just like what I've developed after my surgery. It's not an abcess though, as the rough surgeon who examined me would have said.
I have been applying medical grade manuka honey to mine.... Although I have a nagging feeling its an external fissure.

mine is not an abscess either, so frustrating, drives me crazy and is "with" me all the time. Hot burning, more burn than itch. Im trying Desitin now. I have never tried Manuka.

I believe in being sure, and am in the "just in case" brigade

If a sore comes, and it gets worse, the best thing is to see your doctor, sooner rather than later.

If it's just irritation from having a few bad poops (so to speak) or irritation from a medication, I would stop using whatever, and see if things improve.

Just my extra thoughts on this.
