Distressing Pain after Walk - Larger problem?

Postby back(side)again » 27 Oct 2014, 20:01

Just took a less than a mile walk with my husband and laid on the couch after it. It felt like my tailbone was on fire from pain for about 10 minutes until I took a number of deep breaths and shifted my weigh. The front of my hips were even radiating pain - on top of the bottom of my glutes and near the tailbone. Very bizarre.

This is definitely different than my AF, as the AF was always relieved by walking. However, it seems surprising to me that an internal hem could be that aggravated by such a short walk and laying down... and cause so much pain that radiates so far?

I'm really not sure what else to think. I have had some nerve problems with meralgia parasthetica, a potential case of IC from a particularly rough UTI, a fissure, and internal hems - all in the past year. On top of it, I have IBS (after ruling out all of the IBD options for my problems). It really seems there must be a larger problem for that many things to freak out in one area of my body, so I've been looking at PFD, fibromylagia, and levator ani. Or, I just have the worst mid-section in the world. Thoughts?

That sounds really weird and distressing. I agree that it would be strange if an internal hem caused so much pain. Can you see your doctor about it? You have had a rough time, and I wonder if you could see a pain specialist?
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Yeah, I have a CRS appointment tomorrow, so we'll see what he says. When I saw him a month ago for some bleeding, I wasn't having much pain, and he saw an internal hem and said that was the source. It made sense at the time.

As I understand it, internal hems do bleed, but aren't usually painful. However, I've read a story or two on this forum that suggests they can be painful. I'd still be surprised if it could cause the level of pain you are having.

So, the CRS sees nothing. He has recommended me to a spinal surgeon. He had mentioned coccyx pain or something musco-skeletal/joint related. It's weird, as the pain seems to radiate from the area right around where the fissure pain was, but I guess slightly higher. It'll be interesting to see what it is, especially with all of the problems I have been having in that general area lately. It's definitely not internal hems, though. He applied pressure to them and no pain...
