I woke up at 1:30 this morning with a very strong urge to defecate. It didn't hurt but was really uncomfortable. I went to the washroom and let out a bit of gas. After that I was okay. This was really weird. It definitely was not proctalgia fugax. Is waking up with the urge to go a common problem with levator ani syndrome?

Db,

I don't really know... Pelvic floor dysfunction is something that is new to me but I think that we all can have different symptoms.

I did more research on Levator Ani Syndrome and discovered that waking up with anal sphincter spasms and the urge to defecate is not a symptom of the condition.

I'm done with trying to diagnose myself. I've concluded my muscle spasms are related to my other bum issues. My massages help the pain and discomfort so I'm going to keep on doing them.

Db,

I'm tired of diagnosing myself too; it's exhausting but we just want a solution to our pain. I will start dilating myself..

Just had Botox injections today... It was a little painful but the pain subsided right away, I even went out to lunch afterwards and worked for a couple of hours sitting on my bum.

Let us know how progress goes. I've heard botox doesn't start really kicking in until day 3.

When I had it injected into the pelvic floor it took about 7 days to feel a difference... Hopefully I don't have any "accidents"

Do you know how much they used? Did they inject multiple sites or just one?

Hope things start to improve for you real soon.
