Ugh...... So sorry it was such a painful waste of time for you.
I think the nifedipine seems to have less side effects and is tolerated much better by most people. It's worth giving it a try.

I'm sorry too. Sorry the cleansing ended up being painful. Damn.
With the nifedipine, try using the smallest possible amount to begin with, and work up to the recommended dose over several days. That's what I did with nitro.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Thanks Owmybum and Scientist2516.

The entire ordeal was traumatic. The GI lied to me about the colonoscopy and the sedation so I have no intention of ever going back to see her.

Medicine has done nothing but hurt me physically and psychologically. In 1998 I almost died because of their errors. I'd rather suffer than be tortured by them. I regret allowing my doctor to refer me to a GI. I knew the possibility of getting hurt again was high. I was right.

I'm sorry things didn't go well for you. I too have lost faith in the medical community. How did you Doctor lie to you about the colonoscopy and sedation?

I hope you heal quickly from this setback. What is your next plan of action?

Thanks Msimon. It is too bad the medical community treats us like objects. Women seem to get the worst of it.

The doctor told me that my colonoscopy wouldn't hurt, and that I would be heavily sedated so I wouldn't remember any pain if there was any. All I had was "twilight sedation" that didn't affect me all that much. I remember the pain and crying out four times. It felt like my insides were being ripped open for her personal enjoyment. If I was fully alert I would have kicked her. I think she did this colonoscopy to make up for her lack of assessment skills.

I'll probably be diagnosed with IBS even though I don't have any symptoms of it. I suspect this because of my sensitivity to the gas that was placed in my colon. Actually I have a very low tolerance to pain. My senses are very acute because I'm autistic. I feel everything more intensely then the majority. I explained that to the GI but I don't think that will matter to her.

I haven't had a BM in three days and my anus is extremely itchy.

I am planning to try coconut oil. If that doesn't work, I'll just live with the discomfort.

Oh Dung Beetle I am so sorry this happened to you. I had the same thing happen! Well, I was out but then I woke up during my colonoscopy and was screaming in pain but the Doctor did nothing but continue on and ignore my agony. I was furious. Still am, and I had this test like 10 years ago. Swear I'll never have another. Yes, I do have IBS but sincerely doubt that anyone would be okay to have one of those done while conscious.

I hope things improve for you soon.
