After my surgery I used both for about two weeks Miralax in the morning and a stool softener in the evening and it seemed to work. Hope this helps.

Well everything seems to be going good. I am 2 weeks post operation and things seem great. I have been keeping stools soft and dont really have any pain unless I have a few bowel movements within a shory amount of time. I go in for my follow up on the 26th and will see what he says. I hope everyone else the best and smooth recovery. I will update after the follow up appointment or if anything else goes on or changes.

Well I finally got my follow up appointment and it has been 4 weeks since surgery and all seems good. He did not look at it but says if it feels fine than it should be all good. He confirmed that it wass a superficial fistula that was caused by a fissure trying to heal and it was almost there and closed up but made a small tunnel fistula. Everything does seem to be good so I will try and come on from time to time to answer any questions others may have and try and stay involved with this pain in the rear as much as possible. Thanks everyone!

Hi Mikeymike. Glad to hear you are doing well. Thanks for the update. I'm surprised your CRS didn't look at your incision area. Was he afraid of hurting you? Have you looked? Do you think it is healed?

I have not looked but it all seems to feel fine. He said it was best case senario when he did it and didnt think there was going to be any issues afterwards.

I just wanted to says that i have the same thing going on and had a surgery done few hours ago. Im still numb there, havent really eaten anything yet besides Metamucil and very nervous on whats gonna happen when the local anest-c goes away and on the first bm. Do you remember your first day/ evening after the procedure? What did you do after the local was no longer working? Thanks

Yes i was given half doze of percocet right after the surgery. After that havent taken any pain meds yet as the pain is really mild... Will see what happens later.

Were you given any to take during your recovery? Percocet can be very constipating so generally is minimized with rectal surgery. Ibuprofen works well. You may want to take something to stay ahead of the pain, and also try to make sure you have something in you for that first BM.
