Draining Seton Advice and Tips

Postby WhyMeUK » 14 May 2015, 06:13

I had a draining seton fitted on Friday. I was not given very much advice after the procedure and was told that I would receive an out patients appointment to have it removed in three months time.

There is quite a bit of pain at the moment, but nothing too much and there is discharge but it is quite soon after the initial procedure, so nothing out of the ordinary I'd say.

I'm just looking for advice from other people who've had a draining seton on how you took care of it and hints or tips that you found along the way and also what can I expect in 3 months time?

Thank you.

I went for fistula surgery and had a draining seton fitted
Pain never changed Ive No idea why it was fitted Tbh as it fell out after 3half weeks and crs said that's pk nothing to worry about .
I'm still in same pain even now as I speak .

I was told to.play with it by surgeon post op but wound required packing and dressings which covered the seton so I couldn't do that ,
Dam thing kept getting snagged on sticky dressings and causing pain until it fell out
Tbh I was glad it did it was doing nothing
My fistula is still draining as it was before seton was fitted .
For theshorttime I had mine in it had to take Care of itself I couldn't touch it ,
I wontt ever have one again its fistulotomy
Or leave me alone .
