If any one is interested in viewing a video of a lateral sphincterotomy google "proctosite" it is a procedure performed bay a surgeon in Brazil. It is quite graphic so don't go there if you are squeamish. But it does not look like a paarticularly complicated procedure.

Wow, is that really what they do? The video is terrible. I am glad I watched it after-it is hard to believe they can do that and after I haven't really felt any pain. Is this normal or do I have a really good surgeon? I want to thank him at my post op-but I don't want his head to swell up too much. After lookning at those pics I realize things could be so much worse!

That procedure , ithink is an open procedure as opposed to a closed procedure.
The surgeon today did a closed proceddure on me. one small incision and if I understood him correctly no stitches. He said it left less down there to heal up.
