Hello... I had a fissurectomy and spincterotomy about 1 month ago... I had this before the surgery though. I asked my doctor about it and he said it was normal but based on everything I've read it's not. It isn't crazy big so I'm just wondering if I could hack it off. I have a really high pain tolerance! This is annoying. Any opinions or experience?
I would not recommend you "hack it off" idea. You do not know how much you might bleed using this method. Suggest you use the search between FAQ and Portal and search for "tag" as topic. They are very common after surgery in that area. If you're unhappy, arrange to have it removed.
It is normal, it's called a skin tag and if your fissure is healed it should be harmless. Wouldn't cut it off unless you want to set yourself up for a infection and possibly a fistula. Keep it clean and if it doesn't hurt learn to live with it.
I have had it well before the surgery... I asked my surgeon to take it out but he said afterwards it was tissue not a skin tag so he didn't cut it. It does not hurt it is just uncomfortable.
Hi, I have them from my initial fissure. I've had LIS and bilateral advancement flaps and my CRS didn't remove them. The less you have done in that area the better. Removing them doesn't mean they can't come back or cause more scarring so if they don't hurt you I'd leave them alone.
