Hi,
I began the fissure journey about 8 months ago and have been pain-free for almost two months. Slowly I've been incorporating the foods I gave up, such as cheese, bread, and pasta--but VERY sparingly. I will never return to my old way of eating again.
I want to share what I think was most helpful with my healing:
I ....
-Began to eat A LOT of watery fruits and berries
-Increased the amount of healthy oil and fat in my diet
-Used Key E suppositories coated in coconut oil
-DId not eat cheese/yogurt/kefir, bread, nuts or seeds, pasta, popcorn, chips of any kind, crackers. Nothing hard, sharp, or constipating. If your body can't digest it easily, don't eat it!
-incorporated chia seeds, ground flax seed, shredded coconut, and hemp hearts and powder into my diet. This can be done easily with smoothies.
- took 500 mg of turmeric daily as well as ate foods high in vitamin C and A.
-Made lifestyle changes that would reduce my stress.
If I deviate from a wholesome, relatively macrobiotic diet or don't drink enough water, I can feel the change in my bowels immediately. We are what we eat (and drink).
The silver lining of the fissure cloud is better all-around health, as a fissure diet is a healthy one! I have lost some weight and have experienced fewer colds because of this change to my diet.
I'm pretty sure that ther is scar tissue in the canal, as I can feel a "speed bump" of sorts with a movement. This is not a problem as long as my bowels are soft. It beats where I was, which was blood and spasming weekly, sometimes daily.
I wish all of us continued healing. Stay disciplined in your diet and you should see an improvement.
