Hi When I had my LIS the surgeon did not cut where the fissure was (at the back, like most fissures) but at the side. I think this is standard practice. So the incision site was separate from the fissure.
I can't remember how big the cut was (not sure I asked) but it was in one place only so far as I know, not all around the muscle, as you think in your first post. My op was 17 months ago though. Maybe someone who's had one more recently, and for who it's more fresh in their memory, will come along and post.
